Wilson Peck and Endcliffe Methodist, Sheffield

John Dethick began teaching in Sheffield sometime during the 1950s and continued to do so until a week before his death in January 2000.  His wife Mollie, a piano teacher in her own right,  accompanied the pupils during their lessons.  Initally he rented a studio at Wilson Peck in the town centre, but latterly moved to a room on the premises of Endliffe Methodist Church.

Among his pupils were Patricia Leonard and John Tranter.

The Sheffield Bach Society

Many of the up and coming young soloists who performed in the society's concerts studied at some time with John Dethick.  He was president of the society for ten years and gave his last concert with them, the St. John Passion, in March 1985, a week before his seventieth birthday.
